Lovage, better known as the ‘maggi plant’, has a salty, aromatic flavour. Just like the liquid version, it’s commonly used as a base for stock, or to season sauces, potatoes and stews with a savoury kick. It’s therefore an excellent salt substitute in the kitchen.
